The Northern Illinois Municipal Power Agency (NIMPA) is a joint action agency that was officially certified by the Illinois Secretary of State on July 28, 2004. The Agency is comprised of three Illinois municipalities — the City of Batavia, City of Geneva, & City of Rochelle. NIMPA’s member utilities provide retail electric service to residential and business customers in their communities.

As a joint action agency, NIMPA strives to achieve economies and efficiencies not possible for municipalities acting alone. The Agency is committed to jointly planning, financing, owning, and operating facilities relating to electrical energy, and the acquisition of fuel for the generation of electrical energy to support its mission.
